Graduate Development Programme

It all starts with a residential induction course. Here you’ll start developing your knowledge about Mercer, your chosen business area and the people and communication skills you will use for the rest of your career.

Once you’ve started in your role, the next 16 months will be punctuated by three residential training courses designed to develop your commercial awareness and your technical knowledge. You will also develop other vital skills – in presenting and relationship building, for instance – that will help make you a successful consultant.

Tailored to your chosen business area, this will ensure that you are up to date with the latest industry trends and fully equipped to use the resources and tools available to you. It will combine both formal training and less structured on-the-job training.

Most of our graduate roles will involve studying towards a professional qualification. As you might expect, we’ll support you every step of the way. You’ll receive financial support and study materials as well as a generous study leave package. In addition, you’ll be supported by your team and a study champion – a colleague who has been there before and can give you practical guidance and advice.

Ongoing coaching and guidance are important elements of our career environment. For this reason, your Performance Advisor will regularly meet with you to chart your progress and help you set achievable personal and professional targets. It’s all about, building on your strengths, identifying areas to develop and giving you the support to achieve your full potential.
